Synopsis

Our Breed Identification course contains recently updated information on restricted breeds under the Australian National Kennel Club. Correct recognition of breeds for officers is essential as it directly influences how cases are assessed, managed, and enforced under the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008. Confident and consistent breed recognition is a core capability of Animal Management officers in Queensland Local Government.

Learning Outcomes

  • assisting officers to improve their breed identification knowledge
  • an overview of recognised breeds under the Australian National Kennel Club including restricted breeds
  • discussions on breed history and characteristics
  • cat breeds.

A breed ID booklet will be provided to each participant.
