John Lee is a commercial, contracts and procurement professional and logistician. His roles have included Senior Director of Procurement and Contract Management at Queensland Health and Manager Procurement Governance at Brisbane City Council. While CPO at Queensland Health, his responsibilities extended over the whole spectrum of category contracting (including ICT), fit-out and construction.
John’s industry experience includes the Health, City and Regional Local Government, Defence, Aviation, Petroleum, Electricity and the Tolling industries. It extends across all levels of government and includes whole of government procurement, manufacturing and utilities infrastructure and major asset procurement.
During his professional career, John has successfully filled roles at the Strategic/Senior Management, Operations Management and hands-on professional levels. He has a strong background in corporate management, strategic leadership, procurement, risk management, asset management, logistics, contracts, systems, and civil/construction contracting.
His earlier career included service with the RAAF, much it at the commercial end of Defence business (in Australia, North America and Asia) and on the acquisition of major capital equipment. Earlier on, he managed charter flights between Australia, Vietnam and Malaysia. He achieved the senior rank of Group Captain.
His more recent roles have included senior management/executive roles with Queensland Health, Brisbane City Council (BCC) and the Isaac Regional Council. At Queensland Health, he was responsible for the acquisition, development and delivery of health-related equipment, goods and services to 116 public medical facilities. While at BCC, he managed probity in contracting and tendering across council through advice, review and probity audit.
