Butch, spent more than 20 years pursuing his unique vision for the region which included developing tourism, improving telecommunications and other innovative projects to enable the community to build a thriving local economy.

This Peak Services' annual award recognises innovation by Bush Councils and pays tribute to Butch’s legacy.

Congratulations to 2025 winners Murweh Shire Council for their low-cost system to capture and transmit floodwater data to mobile devices using the narrowband IoT network developed by Council’s Director of Engineering Services, Jacob Barton.
