Who should Attend?

The Asbestos Awareness training course is suitable for workers and managers who deal with asbestos or may be exposed to asbestos whilst carrying out their work duties. Our course discusses how to avoid inadvertently entering buildings without adequate controls. It will also assist councils to meet their legal obligations which includes to provide information, training and instruction for workers in relation to Chapter 8 of the WHS Regulation – Asbestos.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will gain an understanding of the dangers of asbestos and what is required to manage the risks associated with this material. Our course does not qualify participants to remove more than 10m2 of bonded asbestos or any quantity of friable asbestos.

  • Legislation, standards, codes of practice • Asbestos registers, placards, signage and PPE
  • Risk assessments and control measures
  • Suitable handling and shifting techniques and procedures
  • Proper use, fitting, testing and storage of personal protective equipment
  • Storage, separation and segregation
